Cinco de Mayo with Uptown Provisions and Guerrilla Tacos: A Holiday for Mayo Lovers

CINCO DE MAYO: A HOLIDAY FOR MAYO LOVERS. 

We’ve all heard of Cinco de Mayo, when we drink margs and honor Mexico’s victory over the French in 1862. But have you heard of the equally important holiday that happens to fall on the exact same day? 

On Sunday, May 5th, Aaron Melendrez of Uptown Provisions hauls a truck full of mayo from his shop in Whittier to Guerrilla Tacos in the Arts District (which he helped open in 2012!) for a celebration of arguably “the greatest condiment of all time,” showcased in all it’s glory. 

Things that wouldn’t exist without Mayo: 

• Crispy rice with spicy tuna 
• In-N-Out’s special sauce 
• Deviled eggs 
• Esquites 
• Tartar sauce 
• The sandwich category as a whole

The Cinco de Huevo Sando - The jamiest farm fresh egg salad, five spice mayo, five veggie escabeche, five chili salsa macha, shrettuce, wild ramp aioli, and heirloom tomatoes, served on buttered at Toasted Hey Brother Baker brioche bread 

The Cinco de Chili Mac Salad - Mac Salad, red and green bell pepper, Persian cucumbers, scallions, cilantro dressing, Cinco de Chili salsa macha drizzle 

+ two take home 3oz jars of the Five Spice Mayo and Five Chili Salsa Macha - an exclusive collaboration between Uptown Provisions and Guerilla Tacos, for this day only.  

The Five Spice Dark and Stormy-ish will be available for purchase on site - white rum, mezcal, 5 spice-ginger syrup, lime, bubbles, topped with dark rum. Damn.
