GOING ON YEAR FOUR OF THE AMIGA AMORE CHRISTMAS TIME TAMALE HAUL, EXCEPT THIS TIME, YOU'RE THE ONE MAKING THEM.
Because it’s just as much about the process as it is about the destination.
Over the last four years, we've partnered with our favorite Mexitalian mom-and-pop restaurant on their Italian-ified version of La Tamalada— a decade old ritual where families across the country gather around the table to wrap tamales in their corn husks like little edible presents.
Though the finished product itself is a gift, the truth is that the joy of the Tamalada lies equally in the process of making them.
On December 15th, Alessandro and Danielle Duran Zecca invite you into their second home at Amiga Amore for an interactive holiday cooking experience that you’ll remember forever.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A cozy Highland Park hang full of new and old friends rolling and filling masa in corn husks, sipping on wines from Baja, making tamales to eat, then and there. We’ll send you home with half a dozen (6) tamales and a bottle of Amiga Amore’s signature “El Chorro” hot sauce to share at your holiday gatherings.
THE TAMALES
Chicken Cacciatore with Mushroom
Chili Colorado Beef
Caprese with Oaxaca cheese, pesto and cherry tomato
Pumpkin Pie (you heard that)
+ wines of Baja California on flow and a bottle of their signature "El Chorro" hot sauce to take home.
AMIGA AMORE
Amiga Amore is a restaurant love story. Danielle and Alessandro fell in love in the kitchen of the popular NYC restaurant Vespa in 2013, and after working together across numerous top restaurants such as Le Coucou and the Modern in NYC, they decided to pursue their dreams or running their own restaurant. Amiga Amore was built from this love and is a fusion of their identities. Danielle brings the flavors of her Mexican heritage and combines it with her husband’s Italian family's cooking techniques. Cleverly called Mexitalian (Mexican - Italian), Amiga Amore’s cuisine is plate-popping with taste, colors, and love. After 5 years of doing pop-up events at various locations around Los Angeles, the couple's dream of coming into a restaurant was stronger than ever. Through their pop-up’s, they discovered the perfect location for their restaurant in a neighborhood Chef Danielle grew up in, establishing roots in Highland Park.
