Next to making a proper omelette or wiping your own ass, rolling a joint is an essential life skill for any self-respecting member of society.
-Anthony Bourdain
Bourdain’s timeless quote opens author and journalist Noah Rubin’s acclaimed book How We Roll, a global exploration of joint, blunt, and spliff culture. On May 2nd, we’re bringing that exploration to life—pasta-style—with a Friday sunset hangout that celebrates the sweet spot between Italian cuisine and cannabis culture.
Following Rubin’s past food-meets-flower collaborations with Morgenstern’s Ice Cream in NYC and Sunset Squares Pizza in San Francisco, The Art of Rolling brings Rubin together with acclaimed pasta master Francesco Allegro. Allegro is not just the head chef at Capri Club and the force behind some of LA’s most coveted pasta nights, he’s also a fellow rolling enthusiast whose hands are just as skilled with dough as they are with papers.
WE ROLL JOINTS, WE ROLL PASTA
Set against a dreamy private hilltop in El Sereno, Los Angeles, the evening will highlight the bandiera (“flag”) style of Italian joint rolling, paired with several pasta dishes inspired by the same motif—crafted masterfully by Chef Francesco and his team. Whether you love hand crafted pasta, want to learn to roll joints with international flair, or simply appreciate the combination of great food and savory smoke, this event is for you.
Demos begin promptly at 7pm.
Low-THC, legally compliant cannabis from Dad Grass will be provided. Feel free to bring your own goods—and plan to carpool or rideshare responsibly if needed.
