Just last year, beloved Chef Junya Yamasaki opened YESS, what LA Times food critic Bill Addison called “the most quietly ambitious cooking to emerge in Los Angeles this year.”
It’s a gift to the Arts District and the city of LA, built on the core philosophies of Japanese cooking and Zen Buddhism, which Chef Junya had studied living in a monastery in Japan. It’s not only exceptionally delicious but also a restaurant that is actively transforming LA’s seafood supply chain (as seen in Forbes).
Chef Junya Yamasaki and Jeff Tedmori, the co-founder of E-Fish, originally connected over their mutual admiration for marine life and dedication to sustainability, which brings us here— a dinner the two of them dreamed up in celebration of ocean stewardship and the art of preparing seafood in a responsible and delicious way.

E-Fish works with sustainable harvesters nationwide to empower small fishermen and connect them with incredible restaurants, like YESS. E-Fish is similarly driven to bring chefs and diners the best of the sea(son). Sustainability is a journey, but it begins with one bite. The smaller impact makes the greater impact.
