Somm-turned-ceramicist Daniel Dooreck started his studio, Danny D’s Mud Shop, out of a garage in Echo Park. Now based in East Hollywood, the shop makes hand-thrown, carved and painted pieces that you’ll spot at some of LA’s most beloved restaurants like Ggiata, Ètra, Woon, etc. You’ll know em when you see em. 

Over the next few months, Danny invites friends of the shop who happen to be some of LA’s best cooks and bakers to spin a one-off vessel, then craft the dish it was made to hold.

SASHA PILIGIAN
You likely know Sasha by name, but you’ve definitely had one of her pastries. A native Angeleno and self-taught pastry chef, she’s left her mark on some of LA’s best cases — from Gjusta to Sqirl to Canyon Coffee. Through her cottage project May Microbakery, Sasha now bakes small-batch pastries that highlight whole grains, peak-season produce, and her commitment to food justice and community. No brick-and-mortar (yet), but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
