Nowruz with Homa: A Persian New Year Celebration Reimagined at Highly Likely

Sale price Price $85.00 Regular price Unit price  per

Nowruz, the Persian New Year, celebrates the return of Spring as a symbol of hope, renewal and triumph of joy over sorrow. Among the most widespread of Nowruz traditions is the “Sofreh-ye Haft Sin,” the setting of the Nowruz dinner table displaying symbolic objects that represent different aspects of life and the natural world. The table is set as an altar and centerpiece to the feast, a ritual to start off the new year filled with the joy and love of community and an abundance of delicious foods.

Join us on Saturday March 11th for a Nowruz inspired family-style meal as Chef Nima Jahromi of HOMA teams up with Chef Kat Turner of Highly Likely to celebrate the richness of Persian culture and tradition through food.

About HOMA
Chef Nima has worked in hospitality for over a decade in cities such as New York, Paris, San Francisco and Los Angeles, which he now calls home. The concept behind HOMA is a take on the food he grew up with and how he remembers these dishes through memories; childhood spent in Iran and around his family. Nima’s intention is to transcend the stereotypes and exoctism of the Middle East and instead lean into a vision of Persian cuisine reimagine for contemporary dines. Homa is an Homage to his grandmother and her cuisine. It draws upon childhood memories of the wild scents of warm rice emitting from her kitchen, of dipping their fingers into rich sauces and tasting the all day stews their "madar joon" (grandma) would be preparing. At HOMA, the food is simple Persian comfort food with California Sensibilities: bright, authentic, rustic, and crafted with care, love and nostalgia. Come have a seat at her table.
