LA’S TWO UNDERGROUND KABOB LEGENDS UNITE TO SPOTLIGHT ONE OF THEIR FAVORITE UNDERRATED PROTEINS.
Chefs Arthur of III Mas and Baloo of Kabob Senpai have a lot in common. Being raised to an Armenian family in Glendale, and an Afghan family in Virginia, respectively, the coals were always at the epicenter of their communities. Lucky for us, they’ve both set out to share the magic of live fire middle eastern cooking with the streets of LA, and both their pop-ups are FIRE, literally.
Though Chef Arthur has transitioned III Mas to a bakery (opening soon!) he’s making one more debut as III Mas BBQ next Wednesday, July 31st, to spotlight one of his and Baloo’s favorite underrated proteins:
A FEAST OF LAMB SHOULDER (FOR TWO)
By III Mas: A Lamb Shoulder Pita
Baharat spiced lamb shoulder smoked over white oak, served in freshly baked pita with tahina, fresno chili shattah, and pickled sumac onions, served with barbecued eggplant salad.
By Kabob Senpai: Sizzling Lamb Kabob Skewers
Served with a lamb shoulder and beef shank braised brown rice.

III MAS
Chef Arthur Grigoryan is as much a scholar or historian of food as he is a rising star chef. Having honed his techniques in Paris at Drouant and continuing to grow as a chef under Nancy Silverton at Osteria Mozza, Chef Arthur combines his extensive knowledge of Armenian and Mesopotamian cooking with modern techniques to do his take on Texas-style BBQ. His concept III Mas is named after the neighborhood where his family was from in Armenia.
KABOB SENPAI
Afghan live fire cooking, Kabob Senpai, was started out of love of making bomb backyard kabobs with friends and family. Their flavors revolve around Afghan herbs and spices that are simple and balanced— an elevated version of your dads backyard bbq.
DRINKS BY CLUB TEE GEE
Opened originally in 1946, Club Tee Gee is a 1970s-style dive bar in Atwater Village with a sparkled ceiling, juke box, and dim lamps for lighting. Food and backgammon included, drinks sold separately.
Consider it a lamb shoulder cook-off. Wednesday, July 31st in the back patio at Club Tee Gee. See you there.
