On Saturday November 12th, we invite you to join us in honoring Nashville Hot Chicken Royalty, Ms. Andre Prince-Jeffries, as she visits Los Angeles from Nashville for the first time in 20 years. Chef Kim Prince of Hotville Chicken (her niece's restaurant) will collaborate with Chef Johnny Ray Zone of Howlin' Rays and long-time restaurateur, Greg Dulan of Dulan's Soul Food on an unforgettable menu for a Grand Southern Style Feast, to roll out the red carpet for the undisputed Queen of Nashville Hot Chicken.

THE HISTORY

Long before Nashville Hot Chicken was a household name and culinary genre all its own, we have the story of a tall, dark, and handsome man with a history of staying out a little too long and coming in a little too late. As the story goes, in the 1930's, a scorned mistress of Thornton Prince III sought revenge by lacing his breakfast fried chicken with hot pepper. It turned out to be so irresistibly good, Prince opened up what would eventually be known as the nation's first Nashville Hot Fried Chicken establishment, with continuous family ownership and operation through present day.

Ms. Andre Prince-Jeffries (Thornton's great-niece) has handled the Prince family frying pan at the helm of the business for nearly the last 50 years. She's been featured in countless articles from the New Yorker to the LA Times, and has appeared on popular TV shows like Diners, Drive-Ins And Dives with Guy Fieri and Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. Prince's Hot Chicken Shack went on to be inducted to the Tennessee State Museum of History in 2019, and Ms. Andre is a recipient of the James Beard Foundation American Classic Award, and most recently was honored with the 2022 Culinary Icon of the Century by Raising Cane's at the Fried Chicken Festival in New Orleans.

THE EVENING

The evening will start with an hour to mingle with a casual fireside chat (5:00-6:00 PM) with Ms. Andre Prince-Jeffries, then we'll break bread at 6:00. The meal will be served family style, just like the original service of the first Prince family establishments of the '30s. The good times will roll until 9:00.
